The vegetable dodging toddler has got the better of me. After a week or so trying to bribe him with cars, jelly and chocolate in a bid to get him to eat veg that looked like veg, I’ve hunted down my copy of the toddler food bible, Annabel Karmel’s New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner.
Annabel’s hidden-vegetable tomato sauce is described as ‘the perfect recipe for children who won’t eat their vegetables’. The sauce takes about 15 minutes to make, and there’s enough for 8 meals or so. It freezes really well so I portioned it out into a number of the toddler’s old puree pots ready for when his vegetable dodging reaches fever pitch.
As for the taste test, the toddler was served up hidden vegetable pasta, chicken goujon and a very small helping of peas and he lapped it up, except for the peas, of course!
The verdict from the toddler: ‘Mmmm, yummy pasta.’ Ha, fooled you. (Is it me, or does the chicken goujon look like a pig?)
